Commedia dell’Arte, the iconic Italian theatrical tradition born in the 16th century and widely regarded as one of the foundations of modern comedy features legendary masked characters, physical comedy, and improvisational spirit. This fast-paced, family-friendly production reimagines the art form for contemporary audiences through Shakespearean adventure, cinematic references, and playful pop culture.
Written, directed, and performed by Nicola Adobati and Domenico Piscopo with Martina Cavagnoli, Colpi di Maschera honors the original spirit of Commedia dell’Arte as a lively, accessible popular theater while infusing it with fresh energy and contemporary appeal.
Presented in collaboration with Fondazione Italia and the Burbank Public Library as part of the celebrations for the 26th Italian Language Week in the World 2026. Part of a tour of schools and universities in California, Texas, Arkansas, and Illinois.
