On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth, the IIC pays tribute to the great novelist, poet, essayist, editor, and intellectual, Giorgio Bassani and his book The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (Il giardino dei Finzi-Contini). The novel chronicles the relationships between the narrator and the children of the Finzi-Continis, a Jewish family in Ferrara, from the rise of Benito Mussolini until the start of World War II. Special presentations by UCLA PhD candidates Adele Sanna on Giorgio Bassani and Cinema and Viola Ardeni on Giorgio Bassani and the director Vittorio De Sica.
