Winner of the Golden Bear at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and the Italian candidate for the 2016 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Gianfranco Rosi’s documentary Fire at Sea (2016,108 min) observes Europe’s migrant crisis from the vantage point of a Mediterranean island where hundreds of thousands of refugees, fleeing war and poverty, have landed in recent decades.
Director Gianfranco Rosi will participate in a Q&A after the October 28th and October 29th screenings at 7:15 PM at the Laemmle Ahrya Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills.
The film will also be screened on November 17 on the occasion of Cinema Italian Style, the annual festival of Italian Cinema in Los Angeles, with the Director Rosi in conversation with the audience and moderated by Alberto Barbera, Director of the Venice International Film Festival
