This special concert by the duo TWO For NEW featuring saxophonist Giovanni De Luca and pianist Francesco Silvestri, will take us on a musical journey through cinematic scores, folk, jazz, descriptive music, minimalism and neo-Romanticism.
Started in 2011, the TWO for NEW project explores and develops a new relationship between the saxophone and the piano.
Giovanni De Luca, saxophonist, under the direction of Paul Trampetti, graduated – with honours – from the Conservatorio Stanislao Giacomantonio in Cosenza, his hometown. He then studied with prestigious masters including Mario Marzi, Claude Delangle and Fabrice Moretti. Winner of various national and international competitions, he has given numerous concerts as soloist, duo with piano, duo with accordion and with a saxophone quartet.Alternating concerts and teaching, he is a public school teacher in Italy. Among his most recent activities is the recording of an album entitled Tribute to Galliano in collaboration with accordionist Tommaso Arena, entirely dedicated to Richard Galliano.
Francesco Silvestri, pianist born in Vibo Valentia, studied at the conservatories in Vibo Valentia, Reggio Calabria, Rome and Brescia. He graduated with honours in piano, harpsichord, chamber music and music education under the guidance of Maestro Vicenzo Balzani. He has also taught at the conservatories of Trieste, Rovigo and Trapani.Silvestri has participated in numerous national and international competitions and he has performed in Australia, France, Germany, Portugal Romania, Spain and Switzerland.
