Opera meets cello and its magic in this unique musical experience that bridges original works for cello ensemble with iconic moments from the Italian operatic tradition. The first half features music originally written for cello quartet—by Goltermann, Fitzenhagen, Klengel, and Sollima, all of whom were accomplished cellists themselves. The second half presents beautifully adapted arias and preludes—from Monteverdi to Puccini—highlighting the expressive power of the cello.
Presented by James Conlon and performed by Francesco Angelico, Matteo Bodini, Luca Dondi and Luigi Visco, four outstanding Italian cellists who form the core of the cello section of the Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra, founded and conducted by Riccardo Muti.
Organized by The Ebell of Los Angeles and the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy, with the support of MiC and SIAE, as part of the ‘Per Chi Crea’ program.
