On the occasion of the Carnival festivities, a special event featuring an exhibition of artisanal Venetian masks and concepts designed by art director Luca Nemolato for The Plague Doctor, a psychological thriller inspired by the namesake historical figure and the legend of a haunted island in the Venetian Lagoon.
A trailer of the feature film in development will also be screened. The film’s director Emanuele Mengotti will be in attendance and talk about his inspiration for this project.
Mask maker Davide Belloni, from Ca’ Macana, one of the few workshops in Venice that continues to create masks using antique methods, will also give a brief presentation in English on the Venetian tradition of mask wearing and making.
