Novelist, translator and poet Erri De Luca recites a poem by Nazim Hikmet titled Welcome, my woman. De Luca has published more than 60 books, numerous collections of short stories and poems, translated in more than 30 languages and has been recognized by critic Giorgio De Rienzo of Corriere della Sera as “the writer of the decade”.
These are the words De Luca wrote dedicating this video to the passionate and loyal IIC Los Angeles public:
In times of epidemic reclusion, I remember the verses of a poet who has long been in prison. He resisted thanks to his ideals and love. He turns his cell into a lawn and the bars into a rose garden when he receives a visit from his beloved woman.
