Oscar®-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (Il Divo, The Great Beauty, The Hand of God) once again finds his perfect collaborator in Toni Servillo, who plays Mariano de Santis, President of the Italian Republic. A widower and Catholic, de Santis has a daughter, Dorotea, who is a lawyer like him. As his term in office draws to a close, amid quiet days, he is faced with two final tasks: deciding on two delicate requests for presidential pardons. These are real moral dilemmas, intertwined with his private life in ways that seem impossible to untangle.
Filmed between Turin and Rome with Sorrentino’s signature visual sophistication and presented at the opening of the 2025 Venice Film Festival, La Grazia unfolds like a philosophical drama: elegant, intense, and full of grace, a story of love, loss, and the fleeting nature of time, infused with moments of humor, tenderness, and deep reflection.
Presented at the Santa Fe International Film Festival in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles.
