On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3), the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles in collaboration with Leaps n Boundz present a screening of the short movie Thanks Michele (Grazie Michele, 2022) by Rosario Errico.
Michele is a boy with Down syndrome who loves to live life in a cheerful and carefree way. His inseparable friend is Adriano, a paraplegic teenager, who is always sad because of his handicap.
Advocating that no one should be left behind, Michele is the living proof that with a smile and altruism, you can give a lot to others. Like a young Cyrano de Bergerac, he will try to transform the sadness of his friend Adriano into joy and love for life.
Through their purity, empathy, wit and altruism, the two boys teach us that they do not feel any different, and that with a simple smile you can change your life.
