The 20th annual Los Angeles, Italia Film Festival returns to Hollywood on the eve of the 2025 Academy Awards.
Chaired by Italian producer Raffaella De Laurentiis, the festival will celebrate Italy’s rich cinematic, artistic, and lifestyle legacy while introducing contemporary Italian productions to the United States.
The festival opens on Sunday, February 23, 2025, with two exclusive U.S. premieres: Darkness (25’), directed by Giuliano Oppes, featuring a special introduction by Franco Nero, and The American Backyard (107’), directed by Pupi Avati, introduced by the filmmaker and producer Antonio Avati. The screenings will be followed by the official Opening Ceremony.
Among the festival highlights are tributes to actors Isabella Rossellini and Sergio Castellitto and set decorator Cynthia Sleiter, including a special screening of Conclave, directed by Edward Berger, on February 24, 2025 at 6:00 PM. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with and set decorator Cynthia Sleiter and the awards ceremony.
