Passages and on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s death, the IIC remembers the director, poet, writer and intellectual with a screening of Prophecy. Pasolini’s Africa (Profezia. L’Africa di Pasolini 2013, 77 min), a documentary by Gianni Borgna and Enrico Menduni about Pasolini’s love for Africa, and how his vision of that continent relates to today. Italian with English subtitles.Introduced by Gian Maria Annovi, USC Assistant Professor of French, Italian and Gender Studies. Gian Maria Annovi studied Philosophy at the University of Bologna and earned a PhD in Italian Studies at Columbia University. His dissertation on writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini was granted the ‘P. P. Pasolini Award for Best Doctoral Dissertation’. He is the editor of three volumes and the author of numerous book chapters and articles on Italian poetry, the Italian Neo-avant-garde, and Pier Paolo Pasolini. His new book on the making of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s authorial figure is forthcoming in 2016.
