Directed by the late Ettore Scola who passed this year, this special tribute screening of Splendor (1989, 110 min.), is a comic and moving ode to the by gone days of movie going in a small Italian town. Marcello Mastroianni delivers a pitch perfect performance as the owner of the Splendor reflecting back on a life spent in the proverbial dark.
Curated by Paul Malcolm and Ross Melnick and co-presented by the UCLA Film and Television Archives and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Los Angeles.
