LA Opera: 2016/17 New Season Kickoff, special event and screening

The LA Opera will launch its new spectacular 2016/17 season, which will include Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, and Gioachino Rossini’s Tosca with a special presentation Fran Rizzi, LA Opera Director of Public Relations, and Eric Borneman, LA Opera Director of Marketing.

Roberto Tagliavini (bass), who will interpret Lord Banquo from Macbeth in the LA Opera Darko Tresnjak production, will offer an unparalleled preview performance reserved for the Institute’s audience.

For the occasion, one of the past season’s most captivating performances, Woody Allen’s riotous production of Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi (2015, 60 min), will be screened. The fantastic production stars Plácido Domingo, the General Director of the LA Opera since 2003, as the title role. When greedy relatives descend upon their kinsman’s deathbed, they enlist Schicchi to rewrite the will to their benefit. Handed an opportunity too good to resist, the devious Schicchi turns the tables, securing the future happiness of two young lovers in the process.

By invitation only and open to IIC members.
