Live Performance & Stories presented by Ezio Guaitamacchi
The special event will celebrate the artists and music of Laurel Canyon in the 1960s with stories and musical performances evoking the magic of that time and place.
Pamela Des Barres, “the queen of the groupies” and member of the legendary GTO’s created by Frank Zappa, and Carl Gottlieb, journalist and screenwriter for Steven Spielberg and co-author of the official biography of David Crosby will present the event. The Californian rock historian Joel Selvin will introduce writer and music critic Ezio Guaitamacchi who will talk about his book Atlante Rock – Viaggio nei luoghi della musica (Hoepli, 2016), a virtual tour through the landmarks that made Los Angeles and other American cities the epicenters of rock music.
The performance Blues from Laurel Canyon will feature historical images curated by Filippo Guaitamacchi, accompanied by vocals by Brunella Boschetti, David Crosby’s guitarist and song writer Marcus Eaton and celebrated Italian singer-songwriter Alberto Fortis, who recorded three albums in Los Angeles and lived in Laurel Canyon.
Ezio Guaitamacchi is a television and radio presenter, writer, musician, teacher and performer. He has collaborated and collaborates with SkyArte, Lifegate Radio, numerous newspapers and television programs. He has published numerous books, including Peace & Love (Editori Riuniti 2004), Delitti Rock (Arcana, 2010) and The History of Rock (Hoepli, 2015).
