In conjunction with the Rossini Opera Festival (ROF), a yearly international music festival held in August in Pesaro, the birthplace of Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868), and on the occasion of 150th anniversary of the composer’s death, the IIC will host an outdoor screening of La Cambiale di Matrimonio (83 mins).
This one-act operatic farsa comica, which Rossini composed when he was just eighteen years old, revolves around the farcical attempts of the merchant Tobia Mill to combine business with pleasure by forcing this daughter Fanny to marry Slook, his rich colonial correspondent from America, by means of a bill of exchange. 2006 Rossini Opera Festival’s version directed by Luigi Squarzina.
Sung in Italian with English subtites.
