ITALOAMERICANA is a collective exhibition narrating Italian illustration through the works of some of the most celebrated and appreciated artists in the American market. Fourteen designers will be showcased, all of whom have brought prestige to the Italian scene and received major awards from American critics including, Society of Illustrators, Art Directors Club, Chicago Museum of Design and many others. We are presenting a collection of works created for the pages and covers of the American newspapers: The New Yorker, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, The Hollywood Reporter and The Wall Street Journal. These illustrators have also collaborated with top American brands; for example, Paramount Pictures, Fandango, Warner Bros., Google, Nike, Facebook, Penguin Books, MoMA, Marvel and the NBA. These are the best of the new generation of illustrators, a sector that have become the flagship of Italian creativity.

Olimpia Zagnoli was born in Reggio Emilia in 1984. She currently lives in Milan. Her unique style comprises essen tial images, curvy shapes and saturated colors, inspired equally by art history and pop culture. Throughout the years she has collaborated with The New York Times, Ta schen, Vanity Fair and New Yorker, to name a few. Her bright and ironic images have been used as a framework for Google, Apple, Barilla, and Air France ad campaigns. She has worked with major fashion brands, among them Fendi, Prada, Hermes and Marella (Max Mara group).
Emiliano Ponzi is an illustrator and author based in Milan. His clients include The New York Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker, Louis Vuitton, Moma NY, Cartier, Der Spiegel, Penguin Books, Hyundai, Esquire, Armani, Bulgari, Gucci, Martini, La Repubblica, Feltrinelli, Lavazza, TIM, Pirelli, Ferrari and the Triennale Design Museum. Honors include: the Young Guns Award and the coveted Gold Cube from The Art Directors Club of New York, multiple medals of honor from the Society of Illustrators New York.
Ale Giorgini started drawing as a child and has never stopped. Today he works as illustrator for clients such as Armani, Adidas, Jeep, Puma, Martini, Lavazza, Disney, Warner Bros, Emirates. His art has been featured in magazines such as The Hollywood Reporter, Boston Globe, Chicago Magazine, ll Sole 24 Ore, ll Corriere della Sera. He won the Good Design Award at the Chicago Museum of Design (2017) and was nominated by the Society of Illustrators of New York (2015, 2017).
Francesco Bongiorni (Milan 1984) lives and works between Madrid and Milan. Among his clients: The New York Times, AC Milan, Air France, The Guardian, Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and Le Monde. His works are presented in the most important annual illustration such as Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators of New York and American Illustration. He is the author of stamps for the Vatican and San Marino.
Gianluca Foli is an illustrator who lives and works in Rome. He has collaborated with clients such as Les Echos, The Boston Globe, ll Corriere della Sera, Red Bull, Feltrinelli, Taschen, Fendi, Alfa Romeo, Harley-Davidson, Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times. He is the receiver of international prizes and awards, including the Gold Medal at the 57th Society of Illustrators of New York, the 50th Society of Los Angeles Illustrators, Applied Arts, Annual Communication Arts, and selections in the prestigious Creative Quarterly.
Matteo Berton lives and works in Bologna. His focus in art is to experiment with composition and synthesis of form. He works on illustrations for magazines, newspapers, children’s books and advertisements. He received a gold and a silver medal from the Society of illustrators in New York.
Simone Massoni started his career as a children’s book illustrator, to then move his interests toward design and art. His work is represented in books, magazines, advertising, commercials and shows around the world. Clients include Kiehl’s, Ferragamo, Facebook, Mr. Porter, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Hollywood Reporter, Random House, and Scholastic amongst others.
Mauro Gatti is a creative who ranges from illustration to creative direction and game design. The common denominator of his work is positivity, expressed through a style full of humor and inspired by illustration of the 60s and 70s. One of the projects he is most fond of is The Happy Broadcast, an illustrated space of counter creative information that spreads only good news. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles where everyone surfs except him. Among his clients: MTV, Google, Disney, Barilla, Nike, Vans, Vogue and WeTransfer.
Jonathan Calugi was born in Pistoia in 1982. His unmistakable style earned him a nomination by the magazine Print Magazine as one the 20 New Visual Artists Under 30 (2010). In the same year, the Art Director Club of New York choose him as one of the 50 Young Guns under 30. He worked for several international brands: Nike, Apple, Sony, Google, Facebook, Logitech and The New York Times.
Van Orton is a creative team composed by two twin brothers from Turin. Interested in pop culture and church window art, their style evolved towards an 80s and 90s classic aesthetic. They worked with numerous brands such as Armani, Marvel, Microsoft, BMW. Van Orton can boast collaborations for artists as Pearl Jam and Jovanotti.
Francesco Poroli (1975) was born and lives in Milan. Since 2000 he has worked as a freelance illustrator and art director. His work has been published by The New York Times Magazine, Wired, GQ, La Repubblica. He collaborated with important brands including Fiat, Adidas, NBA, Red Bull, McDonald’s and many others. His works have been awarded by the Society of Illustrators New York and The Society of Publication Designers.
Anna Parini is an illustrator born in Milan in 1984. She currently works and lives in Barcelona. Some of her clients include The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Economist, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Penguin Random House, Save The Children among others. Her work has been recognized and exhibited by Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, American Illustration and Society for News Design.
Irene Rinaldi was born in Rome where she lives and works. She collaborates with Italian and international magazines. Specialising in handmade print and etching, a crucial part of her work is related to the study of engraving and printing craftsmanship. Taking from mid-century graphic design and from the aesthetic of linocut printing, but also inspired by screen printed poster-art. Among her clients are NYTimes, LATimes, Taschen, Washington Post, Boston Globe, AARP, Vogue Italia, Elle France.
Riccardo Guasco is an Italian illustrator and painter born in Alessandria. He loves the old posters, Picasso, Depero and the characters of the classic Italian children’s comic “ll Corriere dei Piccoli”. He is in love with posters as a tool to educate about the power of images. He mixes poetry and irony, creating illustrations that will make you smile with your eyes. He collaborated with The New Yorker, Los Angeles Magazine, ENI, Diesel, Longines, Greenpeace, Emergency and many others.
