screening and webinar > Agalma by Doriana Monaco (2020, 54')

In the deceptive stillness of the National Archaeological Museum in Napes, Italy, a frenetic buzz of activity breathes new life into statues, frescoes, mosaics and exhibits of various eras. The documentary Agalma lovingly depicts the daily lives of the museum staff who devote themselves to the minute tasks that require patient skill and dedication. Agalma (from the Greek for “statue” or “image”) captures the timeless beauty of the museum, its breathtaking display of antiquities, and the intimate and intangible web of relationships that unfold within it.
