Meet the Author Online: Mauro Covacich

Writer Mauro Covacich encourages us to listen to the silence of this period of isolation and pause, to invite the silence in for a chat and to listen to what it has to say.

Mauro Covacich is an Italian journalist and writer. After graduating with a degree in Philosophy at the University of Trieste he made his writing debut in 1993 with Storie di pazzi e di normali, a true novel about on psychiatric institutions based on his experience at the Department of Mental Health in Pordenone followed by many other notable novels and short stories. Professor of creative writing at the University of Padua and a collaborator for newspapers such as Panorama and Il Corriere della Sera. He confirmed his ability to subvert narrative schemes in his most recent books L’esperimento (2013 ), La sposa (2014, finalist for the 2015 Strega Prize), La citta’ interiore (2017, Brancati prize and finalist for the Campiello Prize) and Di chi è questo cuore (2019). In 2016 he wrote the short story collection Smash.15 racconti di Tennis.
