Between Two Seas / LA International

Between Two Seas / LA International

The exhibition is curated by Los Angeles based, Italian artist Luigia Martelloni and focuses on how artists from more than ten different countries give shape to their heterogenous creative reality. “Their works reflect that all of us, wherever we are, find ourselves suspended between two spaces. We are all immigrants or emigrants in some way. The stories of displaced humans from the current international refugee crisis deserve attention and respect. It is my hope, especially acute after seeing the crisis up close in my own country of birth, that this exhibition offers proof that art is an instrument of beauty, freedom, interconnection and integration, independent of ethnicities and religions. I believe that artists are a bridge between two seas spanning not only a physical place but an infinite horizon of desire to co-exist without prejudice and to see the world as one.”

The first iteration of this exhibition was mounted at the Museo Area Archeologica Arte Contemporanea in Cisternino, Puglia in Italy from July 7th through September 1st this past summer.
