Fashion and Traditions of the Central Italy

In anticipation of the 16th annual Italian Language Week in the World with the theme of Italian and Creativity: Brands and Traditions, Fashion and Design, the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles presents an evening dedicated to the fashion and traditions of the Ciociaria, an area in the southern region of Lazio, whose local name derives from "ciocie", the traditional footwear once worn by farmers and sheepherders. The region is in fact particularly rich in history and traditions and maintains its rich and varied folklore.

The event will include a fashion show of wedding dresses and formal wear created and produced by Atelier Emozioni and Sonia Noce for the Los Angeles public, highlighting their innovative Italian creations.

The event has the objective of presenting all of the cultural and artistic aspects of the Italian region, which is still not well known internationally, with a special focus on contemporary products in fashion.

The event is curated by, Alfio Borghese, Director of the Biennale d'Arte Contemporanea di Anagni and Frosinone and co-curator of the exhibit  Italian California Dreaming, currently on display at the IIC until September 30, 2016.

RSVP mandatory.
